Open Letter to Bishop Finn Concerning His Priorities Concerning Contraception

50

By The Corniwhistler

An open question to Bishop Robert Finn, Bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City and St. Joseph, and other American Bishops.

I'm a good Catholic, or will be this coming Easter, and I ask why do you single out one non-Catholic to criticize openly about birth control when you let slide Catholics like Speaker John Boehner and Representative Paul Ryan for their anti-life legislation that burdens the poor unduly. And why do you let Speaker Newt Gingrich and Senator Rick Santorum, other very devout Catholics, off the hook when they are going against the teachings of the Church concerning the dignity of people because of their racist remarks. Why are you not criticizing Governor Sam Brownback's pro-death penalty stance?

Additionally, Bishop Finn, why are you criticizing and refusing to comply with an administrative rule that you are already complying with? Yes, you are complying with an even stricter rule in Missouri that states that even churches must cover contraception in their insurance policies. Not just hospitals and universities. CHURCHES.

I have not heard one word, Bishop Finn, concerning that rule in the three years I have worshiped in your diocese.

Why?

Could it be you're a shill for the Republican Party? Or is it that you're a hypocrite? I hope neither is true but your recent actions have put into question your ability to lead in my Church and I ask you to join me in prayer that you prioritize and protect the sanctity of all life, not just the fertilized egg.

I also join you and your parishioners in prayer that you may prioritize the life of young children over these politically charged events. You have no right to throw stones at the president when you have consistently failed to stop pedophilia in your diocese.

Yours in Christ,
Conja Summerlin
